staff The Bible teaches us about diverse people from many nations who are gifted and equipped with many talents. Paul speaks to us in Corinthians about the different gifts and callings to serve.

CFI–Jerusalem is a CHRISTIAN TEAM pulling together in the same direction to accomplish God’s work. As we place people, we try to place them in their calling.

"He lifts up a banner for the distant nations, He whistles for those at the ends of the earth. Here they come, swiftly and speedily." Isaiah 5:26

Volunteer in Jerusalem

There are many historical markers that are defining points in Jewish history that underscore Jewish/Christians relations, from the days of the early Church to this current day. These benchmarks in time are marred with divisiveness, and silence, as anti-Semitic views crept into the Church. Christian Friends of Israel-Jerusalem (CFI) was founded to counter centuries of anti-Semitic deeds by the Church against the Jewish people.

CFI, a Jerusalem based Christian organization, was established in 1985, to provide comfort and support to the people of Israel through practical means - to inform Christians around the world of God's plan for Israel and the Church’s responsibility toward the Jewish people - and to make Jewish people aware of our solidarity with them.

As referenced by its name "Christian Friends", CFI also provides Christians with numerous opportunities to be the expression of God's love and kindness, building relationships and lasting friendships between Christians and Jews, in Israel, and around the world.

John 15:16 reminds us that the Lord told His disciples that, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will remain...."

CFI desires to bring people together who are called, chosen and anointed for service, and whose energies, talents and abilities qualifies them to join the work of CFI, in Israel and the nations. We are looking for individuals with a spirit of excellence committed to staying the course and finishing their assignment.

Our staff is made up of both paid and volunteer workers. As a registered Amutah, non-profit Christian organization in Israel, legally CFI can only employ and pay wages to Israelis.

Volunteer Benefits

Long and short-term volunteer opportunities are available at our two Jerusalem locations, the Headquarters building and Distribution Center. Volunteer work at the Distribution Center is of a practical nature assisting new immigrants with clothing and household items needed to start a new home. Positions at Headquarters requires administrative and technical skill in areas such as media, accounting and administration.

Long-term volunteer benefits include shared housing, monthly bus pass, a hot lunch during the work week, and basic medical insurance after 90 days. Long-term volunteers are responsible for costs of visas, roundtrip airfare, food, utilities, and personal services such as telephone, internet, cell phone, etc. Long-term commitments are for at least 24 months.

Short-term volunteers receive a bus pass, if appropriate, and a hot lunch during the work week. Short-term volunteers are responsible for their own travel expenses to and from Israel as well as housing or living expenses during their stay in Israel. Short-term volunteer assignments are available for periods of time less than 2 years.

Volunteering at CFI is not a vacation, but an assignment from God for His purposes to be fulfilled. However, while in Jerusalem there are many opportunities to experience many cultures and languages, as Israelis and fellow volunteers come from "the nations". Likewise, volunteers will have the unique chance to visit the many sites in and around Jerusalem, such as the Old City, and to experience Israel - from the Negev to Ein Gedi, to the Sea of Galilee and the Golan, to Mount Hermon.

We invite you to consider joining CFI as a volunteer in Jerusalem, or as a volunteer at one of CFI’s International Representative Offices around the world. As a Christian friend of Israel, you play a vital role in pulling down the dividing walls between Christians and Jews wherever you live.
